Luc Brewaeys is one of today’s most important composers. Sonnets to Sundry Notes of Music/Threnos is his answer to Stravinsky’s Mass for winds. This world premiere is his first large-scale work for choir and instruments. Aside from its particular forces, the main challenge lies in the formal structure and metre of Shakespeare’s famous sonnets. Luc Brewaeys himself says about the music: _’I’ve always written music on a human scale, always aware of who I’m composing for. I take into account both performer and audience, with no concessions._’ Admiration and amazement are in store for you!
Sonnets to Sundry Notes of Music/Threnos is commisioned by deSingel, Collegium Vocale Gent and I Solisti del Vento.
